LCN Research Group

“Liquid Crystalline Nanosystems” research group was established in Nalbandyan Institute of Chemical Physics as part of the Innovation Center of Nanoscience and Technology within the framework of a grant project for newly established scientific groups of the Science Committee, Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports RA on September 9, 2021.

RESEARCH DIRECTIONS

  • Development of technologies for exfoliation of single layer films (SLF) (graphene, GO and MoS2), and liquid crystalline (LC) phase synthesis by computer modeling of optimal parameters.
  • Theoretical and experimental study of the structural, electrochemical, electro-optical properties of the LC phases of the SLFs with the additive organic molecules and nanoparticles․
  • Preparation of cloaking coatings in the THz range based on the achieved nanostructured thin films and identification of the possibilities of their improvement using LC structures.
  • Investigation of liquid crystalline surface plasmon resonance biosensors.
  • Fabrication of liquid crystalline single- and multi-layer structures enriched with nanoparticles and dyes, induction of defects with external fields, and tuning of electro-optical properties of the above-mentioned systems.
